n: the colour of fluorescent light exhibited by some oils when viewed by reflected light. This usually differs from the colour as seen by transmitted light.

n: 1. a pressurised device capable of transferring liquid;sometimes used to transfer crude oil and water mixtures if pump agitation would create unwanted emulsions.2. a small tank in which liquids are accumulated and drained by applying gas or air pressure above the liquid level. Such a vessel is usually located below a pipeline or other equipment at a location where an outside power source is not convenient for removing the drained liquids. Sometimes referred to as a drip.

v: to empty or depressure a vessel. Also called depressure.

to release gas pressure. In a reservoir, blow down is often after the oil recovery phase has been complete and the majority of the gas from the gas cap needs to be recovered.

adj: supercharged. See supercharge. blown oil n: fatty oil the viscosity of which has been increased by blowing air through it at an elevated temperature.

n: one of several valves installed at the wellhead to prevent the escape of pressure either in the annular space between the casing and the drill pipe or in open hole (i.e., hole with no drill pipe) during drilling or completion operations. Blow- out preventers on land rigs are located beneath the rig at the lands surface;on jackup or platform rigs, at the waters surface;and on floating offshore rigs, on the seafloor.
