a piece of equipment that connects pipe, flanges or other equipment with different root threads or connection mechanisms.

n: a force of attraction that causes molecules of one substance to cling to those of a different substance.

n: The force which holds together unlike molecules.

attractive forces between unlike molecules or compounds. Example – the attractive forces between water molecules and the walls of a clean glass tube are stronger than the cohesive forces;this leads to an upward turned contact or meniscus at the wall.

n: a large, sloping sedimentary deposit at the mouth of a canyon, laid down by intermittently flowing water, especially in arid climates, and composed of gravel and sand. The deposit tends to be coarse and unworked, with angular, poorly sorted grains in thin, overlapping sheets. A line of fans may eventually coalesce into an apron that grows broader and higher as the slopes above are eroded away.

land counterpart of a river delta. Characteristic of sediments that have been transported by a fast moving stream then dropped out of the flow as the stream velocity drops as it spreads out. Typical of zones of heavy water runoff such as found at the base

n: a braking mechanism on the drawworks, supplemental to the mechanical brake, that permits the lowering of heavy hook loads safely at retarded rates without incurring appreciable brake maintenance. There are two types of auxiliary brake-the hydrodynamic and the electrodynamic. In both types, work is converted into heat, which is dissipated through liquid cooling systems. n: The additional device of mechanical brake.Decreasing the maintenance of brake system and making landing heavy loading safe. There are two kinds of forms: one is hydrodynamic, the other is dynamic.

A thread for tools and equipment that has three parallel threads per inch (similar to a BW thread). Used in applications of 1.75” OD thread or less.

a packer or packoff installed at surface on a well that enables the use of one size pipe inside another and allows flow into or out of each pipe separately.

n: a special well-control tool made up in the drill pipe usually just above bubble, of gas enter the annulus, the bubble chopper allows mud in the drill string to be diverted into the gas bubble by means of an opening, or port, in the tool. The mud from the drill string mixes with and spreads out the large gas bubble so that the gas cannot expand to a great extent as it nears the surface. Reducing the amount of bubble expansion reduces pressure on the casing near the surface and thus minimises the chances of formation fracture and an underground blowout.
