n: 1. the electrical effect that resists any change of current in a circuit and causes voltage to lead current;measured in henrys. 2. an apparatus to produce inductance in a circuit, such as a coiled conductor.

n: an alternating-current motor in which the primary winding on a part (usually the stator) is connected to a source of power, and the secondary winding (usually on the rotor) carries current induced by the magnetic field of the primary winding.
