n: a standard that is calibrated against a reference standard and is intended to verify working measuring instruments of lower accuracy. Compare primary standard, secondary standard.

n: the measuring tape used to measure all of a tanks rings after it is calibrated to the standard tape. See also standard tape, strapping.

repairing a well. Usually implies opening the well and running in with a tubing string. May or may not involve killing the well and may or may not involve a conventional rig.
