n: an instrument for measuring electric current in amperes.

(A) n: the fundamental unit of electrical current;1 ampere = 6.28 x 1018 electrons passing through the circuit per second. One ampere delivers I coulomb in 1 second. ampere-hour n: a unit of electricity equal to the amount produced in 1 hour by a flow of I ampere. See ampere.

n: the number of turns in a coil multiplied by the number of amperes of current flowing through the coil.

n: the product of volts and amperes in an AC circuit when voltage and current are measured separately. If voltage and current are not in phase, apparent power is greater than true power.

n: 1. the flow of electric charge or the rate of such flow, measured in amperes. 2. the predominantly horizontal movement of ocean waters.

n: (SI) a system of units of measurement based on the metric system, adopted and described by the Eleventh General Conference on Weights and Measures.
