n: a bearing in which a finely machined shaft (a journal) turns on freely rotating hardened-steel spheres that roll easily within a groove or track (a race) and thus convert sliding friction into rolling friction. See ball race.

n: Composed by a set of hardened ball, inside race and outside race. Because the ball can roll flexibly in the race, the bearing journal can revolve freely in the bearing.

n: A kind of double core barrel drill. The top of inner barrel is hung by ball bearing. It is good for improvement of core recovery if inner barrel does not roll with outer barrel.

n: Composed by several balls installed in the cone bearing and tray bath in the surface of cone axis. Used for sustaining radial reacting force of cone and part of axial force. Also can lock the cone and make sure it not fall off from the cone.

n: in an engine, a large circular friction-reducing device installed on the engines crankshaft. Main bearings are mounted in the engines crankcase and the crankshaft rotates on them. Engine oil lubricates them as the engine runs. Most main bearings are plain bearings, in that their wear surface is flat or plain and do not have balls or rollers.
