any of several radioactive, chemical or physical properties logs that are run in a cased hole environment. May be conveyed by electric line, coiled tubing, slick line (memory logs) or drill pipe (LWD).

a wireline with a conductor in the middle and woven electrical braid over the conductor.

n: the area of magnetic or electric lines of force.

n: a surface device used in pressure control for slickline. See also lubricator.

a pressure control method for forming a pressure seal around braded line and electric line. Grease is injected between special tubes in a high pressure housing. The tubes are slightly larger than the line and grease seals the remaining area.

n: The connection between the wireline logging cable and the bridle. The torpedo consists of an outer mechanical connection enclosing electrical connections between the conductors.

n: a slender, rodlike or threadlike piece of metal usually small in diameter, that is used for lowering special tools (such as logging sondes, perforating guns, and so forth) into the well. Compare wire rope.

n: Related to any aspect of logging that employs an electrical cable to lower tools into the borehole and to transmit data. Wireline logging is distinct from measurements-while-drilling (MWD) and mud logging.

a term encompassing slickline, electric line and braided line operations.

n pi: special tools or equipment made to be lowered into and retrieved from the well on a wireline, e.g., packers, swabs, gas-lift valves, measuring devices.

tools specifically designed to operate on wireline conveyance. May be either for slickline (non electrical signal conducting) or for electric line.
