n: a unit of measure of twisting force, or torque. The amount of energy required to move 1 pound 1 foot vertically. The metric equivalent is the centimetrekilogram. or, in SI units, the joule.

n: a unit of measure of work done by a machine. One horsepower equals 33,000 foot-pounds per minute. (Kilowatts are used to measure power in the international, or SI, system of measurement.)
