n: a braking mechanism on the drawworks, supplemental to the mechanical brake, that permits the lowering of heavy hook loads safely at retarded rates without incurring appreciable brake maintenance. There are two types of auxiliary brake-the hydrodynamic and the electrodynamic. In both types, work is converted into heat, which is dissipated through liquid cooling systems. n: The additional device of mechanical brake.Decreasing the maintenance of brake system and making landing heavy loading safe. There are two kinds of forms: one is hydrodynamic, the other is dynamic.

n: an instrument that records hook load, rate of penetration, rotary speed and torque, pump rate and pressure, mud flow, and so forth during drilling. drilling rig n: see rig.

the actual weight of a pipe string measured at the surface;affected by buoyancy, friction and other factors in the wellbore.

n: the nominal rated load capacity of a portable hoist and mast arrangement, usually calculated by an API formula.

n: the ability of the hook that load.

n: the maximum safty load of the hook.

n: under the regulation of the maximum number of wire, not permitted exceed hook load when pulling and running the casing , treatment and other special working.

n: the maximum hook load adds the gravity of traveling block, traveling wire and hook,. That is all the total pulling power of valid wire .

n: 1. position of the rigs weight indicator where hook load is zero.2. position of an engines transmission when the engines flywheel or other power transmission device is not being turned by the engine.

n pi: 1. value that indicates hook load or force, read from a weight indicator;1 point = 1,000 pounds, or 500 decanewtons. 2. in mud density measurement, the portion of the muds weight expressed in decimal points. For example, a mud that weighs 12.2 pounds per gallon (1,461.8 kilograms per cubic metre) weighs two points more than 12 pounds ( 1,438 kilograms). Also, if a 12.2 potmd-per-gallon muds density is increased to 12.5 pounds per gallon (1,497.8 kilograms per cubic metre),the density has been raised by 3 points.
