n: a type of meter that measures the rate of fluid flow through it to determine the quantity of fluid flowing through it.

n: (Ev) a mathematical expression that relates the velocity of the fluid flowing in the meter tube upstream from the orifice to the velocity of the fluid flowing through the orifice.

n: the component of the pressure of a moving fluid that is due to the fluids velocity and that is commonly equal to the difference between the impact pressure and the static pressure.

n: the result of a velocity traverse. When fluid flows in a pipe, the fluids velocity is not uniform owing to friction as the fluid moves past the pipes walls. With some measuring devices, it is important that the device be placed properly within the flow to obtain accurate measurement. n: The distribution of velocity of all material point on the same section when fluid flowing.

a valve specially dressed for a particular well and kept current with maximum flow potential that can shut in the well if surface control is lost. Also called a storm choke – an early subsurface safety valve.

a long tube used in well fire fighting operations to move all the fluids and the fire up above the damaged wellhead. May also be used to put out the fire in some cases.

a small diameter tubing string, often coiled tubing that is suspended inside the existing production tubing. By occupying part of the flow path space, the velocity of the produced fluid is increased and the potential to lift water from the well is increas

n: squeezing of the gas flow.

n: 1. an opening in a vessel, line, or pump to permit the escape of air or gas. 2. a device installed on one end of that portion of a pipe- line that crosses under a road. The vent marks the boundary of the highway right-of-way and provides an exit for any fluids should the pipeline develop a leak. It also aids in locating line breaks. v: to open a vessel or line so that air or gas can escape.

a length of tubing with a screen at each end, intended to be installed through tubing and half of the assembly covered with gravel. A common repair for a breached screen. Generally low rate.
