n: The new set of journal bearing insert bit presented by America Hughes Company. It has the longer life and higher ROP than many kinds of former bits.

n: a device that, when installed in a pipe or flow channel and actuated by automatic control equipment. enables a representative sample to be obtained of the fluid flowing therein. systematic basis, which can be tested to determine the quality of the liquid flowing in the line. An automatic sampling device consists of a probe inserted into the line, an extractor, a timer or other device that controls the sampling rate, and a small tank (sample receiver) that holds the samples.

n: 1. a partial restriction, generally a plate, placed to change the direction, guide the flow, or promote mixing within a tank or vessel. 2. a device that is seated on the bit pin, in a tool joint, or in a drill pipe float, to centralize the lower end of a go-devil while permitting the bypass of drilling fluid.

n: A replaceable metal ring inserted in the BHA (q.v.) to act as a landing collar for a survey tool.

n: The assemblage opening in palm journal of cone bit. The weld line after cone ball is installed and the ball retaining plug is inserted.

n: on a roller cone bit, a coneshaped steel device from which the manufacturer either mills or forges steel teeth, or into which the manufacturer inserts tungsten carbide buttons. Most roller cone bits have three cones, which roll, or rotate, on bearings as the bit rotates. As the cones roll over the formation, the cutters on the cone scrape or gouge the formation to remove the rock.

n: a sub inserted between the drill collar and the bit. See sub.

n: in drilling operations, an insert that fits into the opening of a master bushing and accommodates the slips.

a section of the wellhead or of a tool what allows slips to be inserted to hold pipe or equipment.

n: 1. a pipe fitting on which the external thread is larger than the internal thread to allow two pipes of different sizes to be connected.2. a removable lining or sleeve inserted or screwed into an opening to limit its size, resist wear or corrosion, or serve as a guide.

n: The coupler used to connect different size of pipes. One end is male thread and the other is female thread.
