v: to use a whipstock, turbodrill, or other mud motor to drill around broken drill pipe or casing that has become lodged permanently in the hole.

a second (or higher) attempt to drill a wellbore after the first wellbore has been junked. This saves re-drilling the top part of the hole but requires drop back to a smaller wellbore size in the sidetrack. Also can be a second wellbore.
