n: an interruption in sedimentation caused by erosion;the strata above and below the disconformity are parallel. See unconformity. Compare nonconformity.

a change in the formation that may have been caused by ancient erosional forces. Accounts for variances in formation tops in near-by offset wells in a formation with no pay inclination.

n: the drilling material of offset well.

n: a well drilled in the vicinity of other wells to assess the extent and characteristics of the reservoir and, in some cases, to drain hydrocarbons from an adjoining lease or tract.

a well drilled next to another. Sometimes refers to neighboring wells of different operators.
