n: on an engine, a canister that has a relatively small amount of lubricating oil in the bottom and which filters air entering an engine. The running engine draws air through the cleaner, where the air passes through an element and over the oil bath. Dust and dirt particles in the intake air are removed by the element and by the oil bath.
