n: (bbl) 1. a measure of volume for petroleum products in die United States. {A)e barrel is the equivalent of 42 US gallons or 0.15899 cubic meters (9,702 cubic inches). One cubic metre equals 6.2897 barrels. 2. the cylindrical part of a sucker rod pimp in whid1 the piston like plunger moves up and down. Operating as a piston inside a cylinder, the plunger and ~I create pressure energy to lift well fluid to the surface.

an oilfield measurement barrel is 42 US gallons or 5.615 ft3 or 6.28 barrels = 1 meters3. Note that reservoir barrels undergo shrinkage by the reservoir volume factor as gas escapes. Stock tank barrels are measured after gas escapes.

n: the reduction in volume of wet natural gas due to the removal of natural gas liquids, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, water vapour, and other impurities from the natural gas stream. See also shrinkage.
