n: see suction tank, drilling fluid pit.

n: a steel chamber with an air-charged rubber bladder (or diaphragm) inside that is mounted on a mud pumps intake (suction) line. It absorbs the impact that occurs when the smooth flow of fluid in the suction line coming out of the suction tank meets the intermittent flow caused by fast moving pump pistons.

n: the line that carries a product out of a tank to the suction side of the pumps. Also called the loading line. suction pit n: also called a suction tank, sump pit, or mud suction pit. See suction tank. suction pressure n: the pressure of a gas or fluid entering the suction valve of a compressor.
