n: a mast mounted on a truck and capable of being erected as a single unit. See telescoping mast.

n: see telescoping mast. telescoping joint n: a device used in the marine riser system of a mobile offshore drilling rig to compensate for the vertical motion of the rig caused by wind, waves, or weather. It consists of an inner barrel attached beneath the rig floor and an outer barrel attached to the riser pipe and is an integrated part of the riser system.
