n: a device fitted to a proving tank to indicate the position of the liquid surface in relation to the reference mark corresponding to the nominal capacity of the proving tank, thus enabling the determination of the tanks liquid contents. capacity rating n: a rating equal to the maximum number of cubic feet of gas that will pass through a meter when the pressure differential across the meter equals a 0.5- inch water column and the flowing pressure is 0.25 psig.

n: a chemical used to lighten the water column in gas wells, in oilwells producing gas, and in drilling wells in which air or gas is used as the drilling fluid so that the water can be forced out with the air or gas to prevent its impeding the production or drilling rate. See mist drilling.
