n: viscosity as measured by the Marsh funnel, based on the number of seconds it takes for 61 cubic inches (1,000 cubic centimetres) of drilling fluid to flow through the funnel.

n: Time, in seconds for one quart of mud to flow through a Marsh funnel. This is not a true viscosity, but serves as a qualitative measure of how thick the mud sample is. The funnel viscosity is useful only for relative comparisons.
