n: in tank sampling, a sample obtained by lowering an unstoppered beaker or bottle from the top of the oil to the level of the bottom of the outlet connection or swing line and returning it to the top of the oil at a uniform rate of speed so that the beaker or bottle is about threequarters full when with- drawn from the oil.
